The Truman Fall Color Guard

Students must attend one of the spring meetings the year before participating in the audition process. Students will be taught routines and allowed practice time at these events. Instructors will help students with the techniques and methods our color guard uses in the Fall.

After the training sessions, students will audition for the Fall Color Guard. If selected, students will adjust their schedule to include Marching Band which meets 3rd block during the school day. Students will also be required to attend some summer camp/clinics and band camp which will prepare them for the contest show we prepare for the season. Students that can't make any of those will likely be recommended not to participate that year.

The Truman Indoor Color Guard

This ensemble is very different from the Fall guard. This group performs in a gymnasium setting with recorded music. It is a great training ground for the Fall color guard. The audition process is the same for students in that they attend training sessions before an audition. The difference for this ensemble is that students that are accepted will be meeting outside of the school day for primarily evening rehearsals in the Truman Band Room. This group does however, perform quite often and travels all over the state of Missouri culminating in competition in the Mid-Continent Color Guard Association Championship Festival.
