Inspiring Wellness Vision
The Independence School District Employee Wellness Program provides a comprehensive employee wellness program that will support and encourage employees to create and/or maintain a healthy lifestyle. The employees are encouraged to make the “healthy choice” their preferred choice.
Changing Lives and Transforming Culture
Healthier employees are more likely to be more productive and effective workers, requiring less expensive medical care, and are more satisfied with their job and their employer. In the United States, chronic diseases - such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, obesity and diabetes - are among the most prevalent, preventable, and costly health problems for employers and employees. Making healthy changes in individual lifestyles can help reduce the risk or delay the onset of many of these chronic health conditions and their associated health care costs.
Because the Independence School District highly values the health and well-being of each staff member, the District implemented a comprehensive employee wellness program that went into effect January 1, 2012. Through this program, employees have the opportunity to participate in different wellness initiatives that help support personal efforts to create and/or maintain healthy lifestyles. The employees are encouraged to make the “healthy choice” their preferred choice.
