Media Center and MakerSpace

Welcome to the Bobcat Library Media Center

The Blackburn Elementary Library Media Center serves students and staff with a collection of over 13,000 books, DVDs, e-books, and technology equipment.  In addition, students have access to subscription databases, including TrueFlix, BrainPop, and Gale databases.

We are a school of readers! Thanks to all of our wonderful parent volunteers who make this possible.  All students come to the media center at least once each week with their classes, but we also have a policy of open access which enables students to visit the media center additional times during the school day.

Students in grades Kindergarten and 1st check out one book , where as students in grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th check out 2 books.  5th grade students are able to check out 3 books, preferably 2 chapter books and 1 non-fiction.

Lessons in the media center and computer lab are designed to support, enrich, and extend the curriculum for each grade level and are developed in collaboration with classroom teachers.

Chromebook and Computer Logins

It is  important that your child knows their unique student number.  This is the number they use to log into the computers and Chromebooks.

This is also their lunch number.  (Helpful if you place it on lunch checks in the memo.)

If you need to know the number please contact Mrs. Mace and she can get the number for you.

With your student's id number you can also see how your child is doing in their reading with AR via the link to the right, Renaissance Home Connect.

Please take time to practice this with your child.

Overdue and Lost Books

Overdue notices are issued once a  week on Friday by email.  Please make sure that the school has a working email on file.

If a book is lost or damaged, there are three ways to replace it...
1. Get another copy of the book from a new or used book seller, such as amazon.com or Half Price Books
2. Bring in a comparable title or titles  that would enhance the library collection
3. Pay the replacement cost of the book

Please return all books before moving.

If there are any concerns pertaining to these emails, please feel free to contact Ms. Pope via email: Madison_Pope@isdschools.org or by phone: 816-521-5395.
