Tutoring Site

Tutoring Site Updated September 21, 2016

The tutoring site allows teachers to record when students visit their class for help outside of normal classroom hours. If the teacher has a tutoring work order, he or she can have the time submitted to the business department for payment. For the 2016-2017 school year, Inspiring Greatness hours will also be collected with the tutoring site.

Note: The site has been updated as of November 6, 2015. The new site should be the only site used for storing tutoring time.

Getting Started

Note: This video covers the basic process, but as of September 10th, a new version of the tutoring site has been published and things will look a little different online. We're working on a new how-to video. You can get more in-depth information on the different features of the tutoring site using the menu on the left.

Site Glossary

Encounter

An encounter is the instance of tutoring specific to a student. An encounter has an arrival and departure timestamp. The encounter also includes a number of qualifiers to signify the reason for the tutoring. One or more student encounters are associated with a tutoring session.

Group

A group is an organization structure that allows you to quickly start tutoring sessions and pre-load a set of students into the session. Each tutor can create an unlimited number of groups by using the blue plus button in the Groups subsection on the right side of the teacher dashboard. You will be required to name the group and then add students to the group. Note: Groups are best used when you know you will be tutoring the same set of students multiple times.

Tutor Session

A tutor session is a collection of student encounters that occur during the same period under the guidance of the same staff member. Data included in the tutor session includes the start and end timestamps, the work order (if one exists) assocaited with the session as well as the group associated with the session if one was chosen when the session was created. Tutor sessions are assigned to specific staff members and can be submitted to the business department for payment if certain conditions are met.
